It's a simple formula to win softball games. First quality pitching-Valley View provides that with Gina Chieffallo. Second a solid defense-anchored by catcher Anna McElroy-they have that covered and some hitting. The lady cougars provided that with power Thursday night in their 6-0 win over Wallenpaupack.

"It's still early. We're still working on getting the kinks out, but the girl's have been working hard at all the things we've asked them and their attitude is great, so we're in a good place at this point. Any added pressure? We're just playing one game at a time and taking it from there, because we have a big schedule in front of us this year, and we're not thinking of anything that happened last year. We're just trying to play our game this year and going with it," said EJ Weston.

With all the school spirit and the success of the softball team, the baseball team wanted a little publicity too. They are having an outstanding season now at 5-0 on the year and with a 5-2 win over Wallenpaupack on Thursday another outstanding pitching performance this time from John Kranick over 7 innings he scattered 9 hits gave up 2 runs and struck out 9.

"I'm definitely very happy with the performance. Another big win-nerve wracking, but we got it done," said John Kranick.

"Talk about the success of the softball team? When their playing well and Chieffallo and company are doing well, how does that kind of make you guys want to do as well as they are? It definitely motivates us a lot. You always hear their name on the announcements every morning about their wins they had how many strikeouts Gina has and stuff like that,so it definitely plays a big part and motivates us to do well," said Matt Staback

Morning announcements at Valley View high-school just got more competitive.
