ASHLEY -- A man was put behind bars in Luzerne County on Friday after allegedly threatening police officers and their families.

According to Sugar Notch, an officer stopped Steven Laird, of Ashley, in Ashley Borough Friday night just before 9, for riding a bicycle with no reflectors on it.

Officers said Laird appeared under the influence, and had several beers in his pockets.

Police said when they tried to arrest Laird, he ran, and had to be stopped with pepper spray.

That's when Laird threatened officers and an EMS worker.

Liard is charged with public drunkenness, terroristic threats and other charges.
