WILKES-BARRE — A mother accused of helping cover up the death of a teen in Wilkes-Barre was in court Friday.
Angelina Deabreu who now lives in Stroudsburg was charged last year with filing false reports and corruption of minors.
It’s in connection with the shooting death of 14-year-old Tyler Winstead in April of 2012.
Court papers show that Deabreu told police there were no guns in her house.
Investigators say a month later, her son, Elijah Yussuf, told police he accidentally shot Winstead.
Deabreu’s request for a change of venue was denied.
Jury selection in her trial is set to begin next month in Luzerne County.
