A 17 year old working for months on a project to become an Eagle Scout has to start from scratch.
That's after part of his project was stolen.
The boy and the fire company benefiting from the project wants whoever is responsible to come forward.
Dale McGran of Saylorsburg is a boy scout. For the past four months, he's been working on a project for the community to become an eagle scout, which is the highest ranking in scouts.
His binder is filled with months worth of research, planning, diagrams and budgets for a landscaped area with a flag pole and walkway, but his hard work recently came to an abrupt halt.
"Yesterday, I went up there to mark off where he's going to drill the hole for the flag, and he said it was gone," said McGran.
What was gone was the donated 45 foot aluminum flag pole, which was lying next to the parking lot of the Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder Volunteer Fire Company in Snydersville where the flagpole was supposed to go up.
"I was kind of mad, we spent an hour up there yesterday, talking to people around, going to the scrapyard to see if they had it there," said McGran.
However, they had no luck.
Not only will his project be delayed, he also has to contact people he scheduled to help out.
"To help move stuff. Dig holes, paint," said McGran.
The chief of that fire company was the first to discover the flagpole missing and can't believe someone could do such a thing.
"But because we are Blue Ridge, we won't allow it to be delayed too much. We'll go get a flagpole and get this job moving," said Chief Leon Clapper.
McGran said he's now on a deadline because in order to become an Eagle Scout, he can't be 18 years old, which he turns in June.
He hopes the people responsible will please come forward and do the right thing.
"Like, why? Like seriously, they were just going to scrap it from metal? What, are they going to get a couple hundred dollars out of it, it's not really worth it," said McGran.
