WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — The state Department of Environmental Protection has given a natural gas company the go-ahead to resume operations in Wyoming County.
DEP ordered Carizzo Gas Company to halt drilling at a well near Tunkhannock following a fracking fluid spill last month.
Hydraulic fracturing or “fracking” is the process of using liquid to break up underground shale to extract natural gas.
After the well was capped and repaired, DEP tested the air and water near the spill and found nothing wrong.
