The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the 9th inning when it was 3-3 but left some runners on base. Pawtucket capitalized in the top of the 10th with a five run inning and an 8-4 win over the RailRiders.
Melky Mesa knocked in the first run of the 2013 season scoring Corban Joseph to make it 1-0.
Vidal Nuno pitched well but did not factor in the decision. The RailRiders and the Red Sox from Pawtucket are set to go on Friday night at 7:05pm.
