MOOSIC -- A new season of AAA baseball in Northeastern Pennsylvania is about to get underway.

Baseball fans are expected to pack the newly-renovated stadium for the home opener.

More than six hours before the first pitch of the new season, Sandra Billets and her son Scott waited outside PNC Field in Moosic, trying to get autographs from players. The first game at the renovated stadium is an event the Billets wouldn't think of missing.

"We were here on opening night when the stadium first opened. Scott was five years old, and he was also interviewed that night on TV, too.

The Billets were also there Wednesday night for the stadium's open house and they came away impressed with one of the park's new features: the open concourse.

"You hear something going on, you used to have to run for an opening. Now you can just look right out and see what's going on. The open concourse is going to make a huge difference," said Scott Billets.

Workers were busy making final preparations for the big opening night crowd.

Pete Mills couldn't get a ticket for tonight. He'll be back this weekend.

"The field looks green, the grass looks fantastic, everything looks fresh and crisp and baseball's in the air. Can't wait to hear the crack of the bat, and watch some baseball," Mills said.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

The game is all but a sellout. There may be some standing room only tickets still available.
