DELAWARE WATER GAP — A popular tourist destination that attracts millions each year is closing two of its busiest sites.

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area officials are closing Milford Beach in Pike County and Kittatinny Point Visitor Center, located a few miles from the Monroe County line in New Jersey.

Park officials said they chose those locations because they cost a lot to operate.

The park is also eliminating 17 seasonal positions, which means less-frequent trash pick-ups.

Park officials will also reduce ranger training and overtime hours.

The cuts are expected to save the park $500,000.

The site closures go into effect April 10.
