Two Former B.U. Hockey Players Sentenced In Beating Case

BLOOMSBURG — Two former student-athletes received prison terms Tuesday for their role in the assault of another woman.

Lauren McGinley was sentenced to 10 days to 12 months in prison for simple assault.

Nicole Bruce was sentenced to three days to 12 months in prison for simple assault.

Both women were members of the Bloomsburg University field hockey team.

Prosecutors said the two women, along with another teammate, ambushed a woman and beat her unconscious in 2011.

The university dismissed the players from the team after charges were filed against them.
