NEW YORK CITY -- A news conference in New York City announced the bust of an illegal prescription drug operation linking New York and the Poconos.
Authorities say the drug ring was distributing $2.1 million in oxycodone, a powerful painkiller.
Bryn Stevenson, 29, of Bartonsville and John Romagnolo, 44, of Cresco are accused of flooding pharmacies in the Stroudsburg area with more than 500 fake prescriptions written from a doctor's office in New York, and then a network of dealers sold the narcotics.
Prosecutors said that while serving a search warrant, they discovered dozens of loaded weapons, cash and pill bottles.
