TROY — A woman from Bradford County was sentenced Tuesday for stealing from a health care company she worked for.
Joanne Beers, 58, from Monroeton was sentenced to two years in federal prison and three years of supervised release. She must also pay back $96,185. The sentence was part of a plea bargain announced last year by federal prosecutors.
Beers worked as a supervisor at Martha Lloyd Community Services in Troy.
The facility provides programs and services in Bradford and Tioga counties for persons with disabilities.
Federal investigators said Beers used credit cards belonging to the center to embezzle the money. According to court papers she used it to buy things for herself, including clothes, electronics, and hair care.
