LUZERNE — Luzerne and Wyoming Counties now have their first crisis intervention team to deal with mental health calls.

More than 20 police officers who completed a 40-hour training program were awarded certificates Friday at a ceremony in Luzerne.

The team learned the most effective ways to handle mental health calls.

The training is free for officers and is paid for with private business donations.

The next class is in September.
