Reducing, reusing, and recycling, all while helping people with special needs live fulfilling lives? Priceless.
People flock to Life's 2nd Hand Treasures Thrift Store in Tamaqua, to get items that may otherwise be too expensive, all for a good cause.
"It's a good continual recycle, because what I don't want today, you may want tomorrow," says Sandra Rayman of New Ringgold.
"In the end, everybody will save money, everybody, because the economy is so bad right now we need good deals like this," says Jane Douglas of Allentown.
2nd Hand Treasures reuses clothes, shoes, electronics that are in good enough shape to be resold.
Items that can't be used are recycled. Such as dirty clothing or dirty linens. Most are donated to nearby animal shelters.
Just next door, the furniture section, full of dozens of tables, chairs, and couches all to be resold, to save on time, money, and energy.
"It's so nice to see when somebody donates something and they say they no longer need it and the next person walks in and says oh my gosh I need this so bad, I want this!" saID Sheila Davison, VP of Community Outreach.
Perhaps the most important part is that it helps people with special needs.
"And the really cool thing about that program is that they provide occupational therapy for some of these individuals and you'll see them in the store here helping out, they just love being a part of this!" said Katelin Breitmayer of Access Services.
Money collected at Life's 2nd Hand Treasures Thrift Store supports programs throughout Schuylkill, Carbon, and Berks counties.
