DALEVILLE -- People packed into Kay's Italian Restaurant in Daleville Thursday, entering raffles for gift baskets, buying and eating food.
The event was a fundraiser for the Bruchs.
The family lost its Jefferson Township home in a fire last month.
Brandon Bruch, 15, made it out of the blaze and ran to a neighbors home for help.
That neighbor pulled mother Brenda and 7-year-old Trista from the home.
Trista did not survive.
"You can't imagine the feeling that if you can ask, and people respond, they want to help. And people are touched, if you're a mom, you have a child, you understand, you know?" said Jan Zadzura of Cortez.
Zadzura organized the fundraiser, but her 16-year-old daughter came up with the idea.
Danielle Zadzura goes to school with Brandon Bruch and said she had to help.
"When I heard about it, I had to go ask my mom, what can we do? I feel bad. I want to do something for them. It's just so amazing how the community can come so close together and how you can rely on each other," said Danielle Zadzura.
People at Kay's said helping a family in their community is so important.
"We're very lucky. Everyone has come out in droves and it's nice to see people come out like this," said Joshua Woehrle of Kay's Restaurant.
Jacinta Luptak lived next door to the Bruchs for years. She watched in horror as the home went up in flames and as her husband ran inside to help.
Now she said they are doing all they can to support their neighbors and friends.
"Oh my God, you have to. It's something in your soul you feel that since we couldn't do everything, even this isn't enough. Even this isn't, but it's great that everyone is coming out everyone. I've never seen anything like it and I know Brenda and Brandon and Mike, I know they feel it. "
