DALLAS — Verizon has been given the go-ahead to build a cell phone tower in Luzerne County’s back mountain.

Dallas borough’s solicitor tells us that on Wednesday night, council approved the request for the tower behind the Twin Stacks Center.

The approval comes with some conditions. For instance, Verizon must put up a security fence and paint the tower to blend in with the wooded surroundings.

Officials say Verizon is planning to have the 125-foot tower up by late summer.
