EAST STROUDSBURG — A woman from Monroe County will spend up to two years in prison for lying about her income so her children could get free lunches.
A judge in Monroe County sentenced Dawn Babbitt on Wednesday.
She pleaded guilty in January to receiving money for housing assistance and school meals. Investigators said she claimed her income was $29,000 so she could get aid for housing and school lunches. Her actual income was about $100,000.
Babbitt is also required to pay $23,000 in restitution to the Monroe County Housing Authority.
