MOUNT POCONO — Two grocery stores in the Poconos are being recognized for helping feed the hungry.
The Shoprite in Mount Pocono and the location in Daleville are part of a company program called “Partners in Caring” which helps raise money for local food banks.
The stores raised nearly $20,000. As a reward, representatives from each location got their picture on a Cheerios cereal box.
“It’s good to see even in a time where there is economic struggle, people are still willing to donate their time and their money,” said Shoprite worker Erin Clayton.
Workers at the Shoprite in Daleville, Lackawanna County were also honored.
Of the 250 Shoprite stores, only 40 were recognized for helping to feed the needy.
