SCRANTON — Current Scranton City Council President Janet Evans has made it official. She will not seek re-election to another term.
The retired teacher in the Scranton School District announced her decision Tuesday.
Known as a critic of current Scranton mayor Chris Doherty, Evans and Doherty will both be out of office at the end of the year.
Doherty announced he will not seek re-election earlier this year.
The departure of Evans and Doherty sparks a change of leadership in the Electric City, with a new mayor, and now, a new council president.
