ALLENTOWN -- The driver of the fatal hit-and-run accident in Brooklyn on Sunday has agreed to go back to New York to face charges related to the crash, after his court hearing on Thursday.

According to the Morning Call, Julio Acevedo, 44, of Brooklyn, turned himself in to police on Wednesday night in Lehigh County, at a Turkey Hill Minit Market off of Interstate 78 on Route 412 in Bethlehem around 5.

Acevedo was in court Thursday in Allentown to waive extradition proceedings back to New York because he feared his safety.

Acevedo allegedly killed a young couple and their unborn child in Brooklyn Sunday night, after allegedly crashing his friend's car into their taxi cab, and ran off.
