SCRANTON — Sentencing is scheduled Tuesday for Dr. Fred Rosetti, former director of the Northeastern Educational Intermediate Unit (NEIU).

Federal prosecutors say that Rosetti, while running NEIU, didn’t document vacation time, faked travel vouchers, and had NEIU employees do personal work for him, adding up to $138,000.

Rosetti pleaded guilty, agreeing to restitution of $120,000 along with a 12 to 18 month prison sentence. A federal judge said that the punishment was too lenient.

Rosetti could have withdrawn the guilty plea, taking the case to trial. He didn’t, leading up to sentencing today.

He now faces up to 33 months, along with restitution. The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday in Scranton.
