MAHANOY CITY — Opening statements are slated to begin Monday in a Schuylkill County murder case.
Jarvin Huggins, 19, of Mahanoy City is accused of killing his neighbor, Gene Slavinsky, 48, in April of 2012 with a heavy metal window weight.
Police believe Huggins entered through Slavinsky’s on West Centre Street through the basement, cutting the power to lure Slavinsky downstairs. Huggins then killed Slavinsky. Investigators then believe he moved upstairs and stole Slavinsky’s money, computer, and car.
Slavinsky’s body was found two days later.
If convicted, Huggins could spend the rest of his life in prison without parole.
