CATAWISSA -- Several thousand pounds of fish were released into Roaring Creek near Catawissa on Friday, and about 25 people were there to help.

"I just like seeing the fish go into the water and knowing where they might end up," Kristen Wilson said.

"I just like the thrill of watching them stock the fish and fishing itself," Terry Kline said.

The Fish and Boat Commission spent the day stocking parts of Roaring Creek in Columbia and Northumberland Counties. The group put the trout in these buckets and released them into the water, which is where they will stay until next month when trout season starts.

"The fish look pretty nice. They're 10-11 inch average, but we do have some trophy fish as well," Clyde Warner said.

Many of the people who came out to stock the creeks regularly fish at these creeks and wanted to get a sneak peek at this year's trout selection.

"I fish it all, I know the whole creek," Ed Nozisko said.

With about six weeks until the start of trout season, people say they are ready to relax by the water and fish.

"More than five times a month. When trout fishing comes in we're in the creeks everyday," Wilson said.

Trout seasons starts on March 30 for Schuylkill County and the Lehigh Valley, and April 13 for the rest of our area.
