WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP — Tom Kostopolous added his name into the record books Friday night, scoring his 100th goal in a Penguin’s sweater.
However, his goal wasn’t good enough to bring the Penguins to victory, losing to the rival Hershey Bears 3-2 in front of a home crowd.
In the first, the Bears built a fast 3-0 lead with goals from Boyd Kane, Jon DiSalvatore and Ryan Potulny.
Jeff Zatkoff would then replace Brad Thiessen in net for the Penguins.
Still in the first period, the Penguins got on the power play, leading the way for Tom Kostopolous to net his 100th goal.
In the second period, Joey Mormina netted his second goal of the season, putting the Pens within one goal. But, that wouldn’t be enough for to beat the Bears. The final score being 3-2.
Former Penguin Dany Sabourin got the win for the Bears while Brad Thiessen suffered the loss.
