CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP -- State police in the Poconos are investigating a shooting near Brodheadsville.
Hours after a woman was shot inside a home on Whisperwood Court near Brodheadsville, state police investigators were outside talking with the woman's husband.
Police are trying to piece together how Bernadette O'Reilly, 50, was shot while at home in what neighbors call, a quiet community.
State police, who have been investigating since the shooting occurred Thursday afternoon are looking for the shooter.
They said O'Reilly gave them a description, but added that they don't feel anyone is in danger.
State police said the shooting O'Reilly told them someone knocked on her door, and when she answered that person, who police have not identified yet, shot her in the abdomen and then left the scene.
O'Reilly was taken to the hospital where she is recovering from the gunshot wound.
