BELLEFONTE — According to court papers filed Thursday, Jerry Sandusky filed a notice of appeal with the Pennsylvania Superior Court after his bid for a new trial was denied last month in Centre County.

Sandusky’s lawyers argued they were not given enough time to prepare for the original trial, so they took the issue to higher courts.

Judge John Cleland denied Sandusky’s bid for a new trial in January, stating more time wouldn’t have changed the initial outcome.

Sandusky was convicted of sexually abusing boys and is serving a sentence of 30 to 60 years in prison.
