Police: Hazleton Mother and Daughter Hospitalized After Cocaine Abuse

HAZLETON — Hazleton City Police are investigating a cocaine overdose of a mother and daughter that may involve poison.

According to Hazleton’s police chief, the mother, who’s in her 50s, and daughter, who’s in her 30s, were rushed to the hospital Monday night in an apparent drug overdose.  The chief said the daughter is in serious condition and may not survive.

The names of the mother and daughter have not been released.

Investigators are trying to determine if the drugs were mixed with a toxin or poison.  Hazleton police said there have been recent cases of bad drugs mixed with some kind of poisonous chemicals.

The Hazleton chief said the danger of buying illegal drugs is that the composition of the product purchased is unknown.
