Couple Acquitted In Monroe County Case

STROUDSBURG — On Friday, a jury in the Poconos acquitted a couple accused of having sex with an underage girl.

Prosecutors had accused Christopher Hickler and Cassandra Smith, both from Bangor in Northampton County, of having sex with a girl.

The teenager claimed the couple gave her alcohol and let her smoke marijuana and use cocaine.

Prosecutors said it happened at a home in Monroe County in 2011.

But a Monroe County jury didn’t believe the story and acquitted Smith and Hickler in less than an hour.
