Hazleton Police Investigate Traumatic Injuries to Infant

HAZLETON – Authorities in Luzerne County started an investigation after an infant was taken to Hazleton General Hospital with a traumatic injury Monday morning.

Hazleton City Police Chief Frank DeAndrea told Newswatch 16 that the two-month-old was flown to Lehigh Valley Medical Center, that investigators have questioned family members and that officers are working to determine if the injuries were accidental or criminal.

Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis told Newswatch 16 that a county detective and assistant district attorney were immediately assigned to the case.
