SCRANTON — Scranton’s city council and Mayor Chris Doherty were in agreement that the next mayor of the Electric City should receive a bigger paycheck.
Scranton’s council did approve giving the mayor’s position a raise, but not as high at the Mayor Doherty proposed.
Council amended the proposal to increase the salary by $10,000 placing the pay at $60,000 instead of $80,000.
The raise would go into effect with the new mayor in January 2014. The amended proposal still needs a third and final vote before it can be implemented. That vote is expected at council’s next meeting.
