THROOP — Two schools in Lackawanna County are due to be searched Tuesday, after an alleged threat spotted on the internet.
Police learned of the threat during a basketball game Monday night at Mid Valley High School.
The school was evacuated and now police are looking for the person who made the threat.
According to police, it all started during when a threat against both schools was made on twitter, an on-line social media service.
Mid Valley administrators stopped the game and told the 900 people in the gym to leave.
Police searched the school last night and found nothing. Nothing was found after a search of Holy Cross in Dunmore.
Bomb sniffing dogs will go through both buildings today, and Mid Valley officials say students will be searched at the doors.
Mid Valley will be searched first, then Holy Cross. Holy Cross is on a two hour delay to accommodate the procedure.
Local police and the Lackawanna County district attorney’s office are handling the investigation as they try to find the person who tweeted the threat.
