WILLIAMSPORT -- It has been nearly two years since flames gutted a popular pizza shop in Williamsport.

Monday, Vinnie's served up piping hot pies for the first time since the fire.

It has been some time since the aroma of tomato sauce, cheese and baking dough came from the place on West Fourth Street in Williamsport.

That is because an electrical fire hit Vinnie's Italian Eatery in April 2011. The restaurant was closed until now.

Longtime customers lined up soon after the restaurant opened again for business, saying it just wasn't the same without Vinnie's.

"Place burned down, really broke our hearts, heard Vinnie was opening up today, so we all got together came down here and had some good pizza," said Rick Campbell of Nesbit.

For Vinnie Guercio, the restaurant is a family tradition. His wife and son work there and his employees and customers are like extended family reunited after all this time.

That includes Victor Booth who worked at the restaurant before the fire and is happy to be making pizzas again.

"I had some hard times, been through some hard times, but I'm back and ready to work," said Booth.

Vinnie's Italian Eatery will have a grand reopening celebration on Wednesday in Williamsport.
