SELINSGROVE -- In Snyder County a teen was remembered for his energy, his love of racing and swimming.

Alex Moser, 17, of Milton, was killed in a car crash in 2010.

On Sunday, family and friends honored his memory during the third annual Alex Moser Invitiational Swim Meet at Susquehanna University.

Hundreds of swimmers packed the pool at the university.

For many swimmers, it's a day to get a personal best. For others, it's a day to remember one of the greatest swimmers this area has ever seen.

"If you were having a bad day he would make you laugh. I just miss him a lot. He was one of the craziest people I ever met, the smile on his face would brighten up your day no matter where you were," said Taylor and Lexi Cole.

"Full of energy, he loved to have a good time. He was a hard worker anything he did, he did to the fullest extent," said Mike Moser Alex's father.

Moser, from Union County, was an outstanding swimmer.

His coach and parents said he was nationally ranked, but his life was cut short.

"Alex was an avid swimmer. Swimming was a big part of his life as well as his friends here on the team. Alex was killed in a tragic accident three years ago, and the team put on the swim meet to support him and his scholarship," said Jane Moser-Gonzalez, Alex's mother.

"And that helped us get through the rough times, the family came through, not just a family, it's a big swimming family," said Mike Moser.

His family said these meets continue Alex's dream in a sense, even keeping the traditions of his favorite color, pink.

The meets give several winning swimmers $500 scholarships each year.

His coach said, it's something Alex would have wanted.

"Even though Alex is no longer with us, his memories and spirit comes on through the program," said Jerry Foley, Alex's swim coach.

The money raised at the meet will go to two places.

Half the proceeds support the Sunbury YMCA swim team.

The other half goes to the scholarship fund for graduating seniors from the Sunbury YMCA swim team in Alex Moser`s name.
