Folks strapped on skis and dancing shoes to help others on Sunday.

In Luzerne County, hundreds of children pulled an all-nighter to help an eighth grader battling a brain tumor.

Kids danced the night away at the Warrior Rave for Eric at the Wyoming Area high school gym in Exeter.

The party started Saturday night at 8 p.m., and went all the way until 8 a.m. Sunday.

Friends of eighth grader Eric Speicher say he's been through a lot. Eric's cancer has required several surgeries and continued treatments.

His friends and family say the support has been incredible

“We had over 40 local businesses and the community donated to make today possible,” said student Leo Skoronski. “It's amazing to see the value of the heart, and how we care and make this possible.”

All of the money raised at the dance-a-thon will go to Eric and his family to help with the cost of medical treatments and other expenses.

In Lackawanna County, dozens of children and parents hit the slopes of Snö Mountain for the annual Asthma Ski Day.

Dr. Mel Wolk, a pediatrician, started the event thirty years ago. The goal was to show children with asthma and their parents that they could go skiing.

The cold weather was once considered a trigger for asthma symptoms, but doctors say with modern medication, that is no longer the case.

We found plenty of kids putting their lungs to the test.

“When I first did it, I felt scared, but then, I had trouble breathing, but then I just went down the mountain and I felt better. It just made me feel better,” said Lucy Abdalla.

Geisinger-Community Medical Center Community Health Education department sponsored the ski day.
