HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Senate Finance Committee gathered for a hearing Monday on the proposed privatization of the state’s lottery.

Last Friday, Governor Tom Corbett came to a tentative $34 billion agreement with Camelot Global Services to manage the lottery.  Camelot is a British firm that runs the United Kingdom’s lottery.

Gov. Corbett’s tentative agreement guarantees profits of $34 billion over a 20 year period.

During the meeting Monday, both Republican and Democratic leaders raised questions about the sale, including concerns about lottery-funded programs for older Pennsylvanians and the future of currently employed workers.
