WILKES-BARRE – Luzerne County court officials said an inmate accused of plotting to kill a witness in an anticipated double-murder trial pleaded guilty to the charge Monday afternoon.

According to the clerk of courts, Michael Scerbo pleaded guilty to a single charge of criminal solicitation to commit criminal homicide.

Troopers accused Scerbo of plotting to kill Paul Weakley, who was a key witness expected to testify against Hugo Selenski.

Paul Weakley had previously admitted that he and Selenski killed Tammy Fassett and Michael Kerkowski in 2002 over drug money.

Investigators said the bodies of Fassett and Kerkowski were discovered buried in Selenski’s backyard in Kingston Township in 2003.

Selenski’s trial was continued in September and has not yet been rescheduled.

Officials with the Luzerne County District Attorney’s office said Scerbo is scheduled to be sentenced in March.
