Troopers Investigating Vending Machine Break-Ins

BENTON TOWNSHIP — State police in Lackawanna County are searching for whoever broke into a number of vending machines at a rest stop on Interstate 81.

Troopers said the theft happened at the PennDOT rest area in Benton Township around 4:00 a.m. Monday.

Surveillance video obtained by state police shows a man breaking into the vending machines.  Troopers said he was assisted by another person.  State police said the two made off with an unknown amount of money.
