Some high school students in Northumberland County will represent Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania next month at a national cheerleading competition.

The cheerleading squad from Milton High School will compete against the best in the country in Disney World--as long as they can raise enough money to get there.

On February 8, 21 girls from Milton will compete at the national cheerleading competition in Orlando, Florida.

"It's a dream come true. We've all been cheering so hard for so long. To finally accomplish an amazing goal like this is absolutely incredible," Jessica Dodson said.

"We're getting in there a lot more and practicing and really cleaning up our routine and putting in harder stunts," Danielle Yoder said.

The varsity cheerleaders recently won their division at the regional competition, so they qualified for the national competition. They are one of about 17 teams from across the country going to Disney World.

"I've been seeing it on tv and on ESPN and the fact I'm going to be there and I'm going to be there with my cheer family is awesome," Yoder said.

"I have what was a huge junior class and is now a huge senior class. This is going to be the biggest thing for them to end their career on," Coach Traci Ferguson said.

In addition to all of the practicing, the girls need to raise money to be able to go to the national competition. They still need about $5,000.

"We've paid for the trip down to Disney. That was about $11,000. Now we have to cover the cost of our bus. We have about a month before we go to get the rest of the money to cover that," Ferguson said.

The squad will host a spaghetti dinner and a volleyball tournament this month to raise money. If you would like to help the cheerleaders reach their goal, click here.
