PLAINS TOWNSHIP – Amid New Year’s Day celebrations in the Wilkes-Barre area, Nichole and Conrad Garinger welcomed their first daughter into the world at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center shortly after 1 a.m.

The couple from Hunlock Creek said Felicity Kae Garinger was born at 9 lbs., 4 ounces, 19.5 inches long and was right on time.

“It’s exciting,” said Nichole Garinger. “She came on her due date. We weren't expecting that.”

While mom was excited that her daughter was healthy, dad was glad that it will be a birthday that is easy to remember.

“Yeah, actually that will be alright,” said Conrad Garinger. “I didn't think of it that way.”

Nichole Garinger told Newswatch 16 that she remembered hearing the countdown and seeing the ball drop in Times Square on television, but doesn’t recall much else about the festivities for 2013.

“I honestly don't even remember what was on it. I have no idea. I just know there was music and I don't know what else was going on,” said Nichole Garinger.
