POCONO TOWNSHIP -- While the snowfall caused some businesses to close and made driving treacherous, it also created a lot of excitement for people in the Poconos.
The inches of fresh powder covering the Poconos created the perfect playground for people wanting to head outdoors to enjoy the snow.
"This is what winter in the Poconos is all about!" said Robert Baldassari, the Director of Sales at the Inn at Pocono Manor.
Many people celebrated the snow by playing in it at the Inn at Pocono Manor near Mount Pocono.
"We started here and went up there then we went in circles" said Olivia Kortick of Yardley.
For Pocono Motor Sports, which runs the snowy activity at the Inn, the fact that people are signing up to enjoy snowmobiling through the snow is something they're grateful for.
"In the beginning of January, February, March season, we worked a total of four hours. Today, this is a gift from the Gods, to have snow the weekend of New Year's Eve, when the mountain should be packed," said Lance Mirkin, the owner of Pocono Motor Sports.
Some people weren't into enjoying the snow via snowmobile and opted to hit the ground instead by using snow shoes. For some folks, it was their very first time.
"It lets you stay on top of the snow. It should be fun, as opposed to getting your feet deep in the snow and wet," said Alex Qurnitzky of Philadelphia.
Another way to play in the snow is with some furry assistance. Dog sledding is also offered at the Inn at Pocono Manor. The tours take an hour as the dogs take guests over the river and through the woods.
If dog sledding isn't your thing, you can always strap on a pair of skis, which is exactly what one couple decided to do.
"I haven't skied since I was a kid. I was in Russia, and that was the last time we did cross-country skiing. That was a good experience, enough to try again." said Yelena Gorelik of New York.
"We wanted to enjoy the snow. We wanted to go cross-country skiing and we came right at the right time," said Paul Gelfand of New York.
By the looks of it, Mother Nature brought snow to the Poconos at the right time as well.
