In the statement, the family of Kevin Miller writes:

“We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Many have offered their services to help in any way. To this extent we reply.

“While most prepared for Christmas Day, our Family laid Kevin to rest. Instead of wrapping presents, we will be holding hands and wiping tears. We feel the extreme grief for all those involved. If anyone has any information, please ‘pay it forward’ and bring closure to what was a wonderful life.”

Kevin Miller, 5, of Dallas was hit and killed Friday, December 21, along West North Street in Wilkes-Barre. Police say the boy and his family were crossing the street around 11 p.m. when a car hit the boy and kept going. Kevin died at the hospital a short time later.

Surveillance cameras captured the suspected hit-and-run vehicle on Jackson Street, just minutes after the crash. Police describe the car as a red, four-door Pontiac sedan with a sunroof. According to city officials, police no longer believe the car is a Grand Am. They do believe it will have some damage to the front or side.

Late Wednesday, city officials released a new picture of the car believed to have hit the boy. It shows a side view of the car as it headed north on Pennsylvania Avenue shortly after the hit-and-run.

Anyone with information about the deadly hit-and-run is urged to call Wilkes-Barre police at (570) 826-8106.
