UNION DALE -- At Elk Mountain, the hills are alive with the sight of snow.

Officials at the resort in Susquehanna County say Mother Nature has brought them a Christmas gift come early.

The temperature is perfect; chilly enough to make snow, sunny enough to draw people outside and now there a natural snow fall in the forecast.

“This is great weather,” said Gregg Confer with Elk Mountain. “It’s warm enough people don’t get really cold to ski, they come out to ski, it’s cold enough we can make snow so it really is good weather. I hope we get some snow tonight so everyone has a white Christmas.”

“It’s beautiful, yeah, we’re having a lot of fun out today, the sun’s shining, there’s a little bit of snow, these guys are having a good time,” said Owen Bewley of Gibson.

Many skiers here say taking a trip down the slopes has become part of their holiday routine.

The Stowe family comes up from Georgia to gather with relatives and loves taking advantage of getting a chance to play in the white stuff.

“It’s kind of a family tradition to go out skiing every year so it’s just one of those things, our grandmother lives here, it’s a good place to get warmed up for the winter for skiing,” said John Stowe.

“Like this is the most snow I’ve seen in a long time so i actually went and did my first ski lesson so it was kind of fun,” said Jennifer Stowe.

And now with a snow fall on Christmas Eve, it’s getting everyone excited for a white Christmas.

“Yes hopefully we haven’t had any snow yet s,” said Monica Ziega from Allentown.

“More snow is better, we love snow,” said Bewley “It’s my daughter’s birthday’s tomorrow, on Christmas day so we love white Christmases.”

“Oh for sure it just, the white Christmas and all that it just totally brings it all together,” said Stowe.

If you’re looking for something to do before or after you open your presents, Elk Mountain will be open 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Christmas day.
