SCRANTON -- A guilty plea was entered in connection with a fire in Lackawanna County that sent several people to the hospital with severe burns.

Mark Loughney of Dunmore pleaded guilty Friday to arson and reckless endangerment.

He admits setting the fire in July that injured several people inside a home.

Prosecutors said Loughney set the blaze July 15 at a home on Electric Street in Dunmore after an altercation with the people inside. Loughney dumped gasoline in several rooms to make the fire spread faster.

Two people were burned so severely they had to be flown to Lehigh Valley Burn Center. Two others were treated and released.

Some emergency workers also suffered minor injuries.

The apartment house that burned is right next door to the home of the mayor of Dunmore and that's where police list Mark Loughney's address. His father is Mayor Patrick "Nibs" Loughney.

Mark Loughney is scheduled to be sentenced next month.

He faces up to 60 years in prison.
