BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — A Susquehanna County man who pleaded guilty to bilking financial institutions out of millions of dollars was sentenced in federal court in Binghamton, New York Wednesday.
Scott Lonzinski was sentenced to five years in prison and five years probation. He was also ordered to pay back more that $14 million in restitution.
Federal investigators said Lonzinski and his mother, Laura Conarton, took out ten loans over two years that they said were to be used for Lonzinski’s construction business outside Montrose. But instead, prosecutors say, the money went in part to pay for land and expensive cars.
The pair pleaded guilty to the charges in August.
