HEMLOCK TOWNSHIP — A former high school coach in Columbia County has been sentenced for sending inappropriate texts and pictures of himself to a student.
Michael Nearhoof was a volunteer bowling coach at Columbia-Montour Area Vocational-Technical school. Police accused him of sending pictures and texts to a 16-year-old girl who attended the school.
Nearhoof was charged after the girl reported the activity to school officials.
He entered the plea in October and was sentenced Monday to three to 12 months in county prison with nine months of supervised release when he gets out.
