BERWICK -- It took a judge in Columbia County less than two hours to decide Daniel Galindo is not guilty of the charges against him.

Galindo was accused of having a young boy and girl from Berwick engage in sex acts with each other. His former girlfriend faces the same charges.

Daniel Galindo walked out of the Columbia County Courthouse in custody, but his attorney expected a quick release from jail after Galindo was found not guilty on four counts of child sex abuse.

The non-jury trial lasted less than two hours. Last year, Galindo was accused of having a young boy and girl in Berwick engage in sex acts with each other.

Both children testified at the trial, and both said it was Galindo's former girlfriend, Christina Allen, who made them perform the sex acts. One of the children said Galindo was not even there at the time.

Allen also testified at the trial. She told the judge conflicting stories about whether it was her or Galindo who told the children to touch each other inappropriately.

Galindo's attorney Hugh Sumner did not call any defense witnesses to testify. The judge said there were significant questions in the case, and he could not convict Galindo beyond a reasonable doubt.

Daniel Galindo spent the past 16 months in jail.

Christina Allen still faces child sex charges in Columbia County. A trial date for her has not yet been set.
