Former senator Bob Mellow's prison sentence on Friday caps a downfall that started to unravel his long political career several years ago.
Ironically, the spotlight started to shine brightly on Mellow back in 2008 when the longtime senator was chosen for a position on the board of directors with Blue Cross.
At that time many criticized the move, calling it a conflict of interest, but Mellow made no apologies, and called the appointment an honor that would benefit the state.
