DICKSON CITY -- Thousands of shoppers headed out after their Thanksgiving dinner to cash in on Black Friday savings.
No blue light special was needed to score a sale on this Black Friday at Kmart in Dickson City.
Dozens made a mad dash for deals at 5 a.m. including a 50-inch flat screen TV more than $400 off the regular price.
While some planned their strategy, other shoppers showed up before sunrise, surprisingly, just to browse.
"No plan of attack, (I just) come in and look for stuff," said Erin Angus of Tobyhanna
One hour after that Kmart opened its doors, JCPenney at the Viewmont Mall followed. Lines wrapped around part of the building until 6 a.m., go time!
"Might get some pillows. I saw they were $3. That's a pretty good deal so I might hit them up," said Chase Floyd of Greenfield Township.
While Black Friday turned into a new venture for some people such as Denise McLaud of Scranton."
It's not as crazy as I thought it would be."
Others like a group from Moosic were pros at the Black Friday blitz,
"We've done it for six years, basically, just to laugh and have fun. We don't really care about anything that we're getting," said Tiana Muskey of Moosic.
If you were out on Black Friday, probably the biggest thing you noticed was that there really wasn't a lot of traffic trouble to deal with. Customers credit that to the fact that a lot of stores scattered their openings.
"There was, like, nobody really on the road, and the good thing (was) all of the stores moved smoothly," said Muskey.
Smooth shopping that kept some people awake for more than 24 hours straight like Mary Chapman of Scranton.
"I didn't miss anything, not a single thing. I got everything and now I'm ready to go to bed."
Now the only thing Mary and the hundreds of others can't wait to cash in on is sleep.
