ST. CLAIR -- Students at the St. Clair school district in Schuylkill County raised about $10,000 for the Salvation Army.

Organizers said that's the most the annual Turkey Teacher competition has ever raised. It's due in large part to donations from contractors working at the school.

For each donation received, students were able to vote for their favorite teacher.

The winner, also known as the "Turkey Teacher" received a frozen turkey.

This year's winner was elementary school teacher Ms. Mickonis.
