STROUDSBURG -- As the holidays get closer, Main Street in downtown Stroudsburg gets a little busier with foot traffic.

Some people come from far away like Amanda Chancey who visiting from Tulsa Oklahoma, who is looking for some goodies to take home.

"I think we do more boutiques. They have a lot of fun ideas and different toys for Christmas, especially for the kids," said Chancey.

With the crowds getting bigger, it's a perfect time for the downtown business district to encourage shoppers to buy local.

In fact, this Saturday is "Small Business Saturday" in downtown Stroudsburg.

Part of a nation-wide campaign encouraging everyone to buy from mom and pop shops the day after Black Friday.

Trish D'Imperio is the owner of "Ready, Set, Run" just off Main Street in Stroudsburg.

This is her first time owning her own business and appreciates the "shop local" push.

"It keeps the money local, supports the local business and they're the ones who give back to the local community," said D'Imperio.

The "Unique Boutique" is also a newer shop in downtown Stroudsburg .

It sells all sorts of children's clothing and education toys.

Having a day when small businesses are in the spotlight means a lot for this shop owner.

"Nine times out of ten when you buy from this store, you're not only supporting this store and the downtown community, but a lot of my things are locally made," said
Patti Cilenti, owner of the Unique Boutique.

While all the shop owners here along Main Street are looking forward to customers coming through their doors, there will be another reason for people to hang out here. This weekend the streets will be filled with all sorts of music.

"We have concerts happening all throughout the town some at the sarah street grille, at our living room next door, Pocono Inn Town. People come from all over the country for that particular event for two nights of music," said Rich Berkowitz, of the Jacob Stroud Corporation.
