SCRANTON -- Two days left until Thanksgiving dinner!

Volunteers in Scranton are busy bagging up donations to our Feed A Friend program that will help feed those in need this Thanksgiving.

This distribution day is the culmination of more than a month of planning on the part of volunteers and of course donations from our viewers who dropped off food in Feed A Friend buckets all over our viewing area.

United Neighborhood Centers in Scranton is organizing this distribution.

Families who have enrolled can pick up their meals here all day. Volunteers say they have enough turkey and trimmings to feed 1,500 families. Volunteers also say the type of family they're helping is a little different this year, working families who say a Thanksgiving dinner is getting harder to afford.

Each family is given a turkey and all the essentials for a Thanksgiving meal; potatoes, canned vegetables, and the supplies to make pumpkin pie.

United Neighborhood Centers is at St. John Neumann parish on Orchard Street in Scranton until 4 p.m.. Then at the Progressive Center on Olive Street in the evening hours.
